Okay, I have not had much time to sit and update, but I'm going to do my best today (and tomorrow...and the next day...). We'll see how it goes. I figured if I started at about 7:30 this morning, I might be able to post something around 9:00 tonight. If I'm lucky, that is.
There have been so many things going on over the last few weeks that I'm not really sure where to begin! It seems like we were involved in something every single day, and I feel like we haven't spent much time at home. That's probably a good thing, although I feel a little disconnected. I'm a routine freak...I can't function well without some kind of daily schedule. However, I know that it's always a good thing to get out of the rut and shake everything up a bit, and it's been fun! So, first things first. Where did I leave off? Oh yes, the circus adventure was my last post. I remember now.
I have a new nephew! Christopher James Alexander was born on August 23. He's a cutie! We went to see Tim, Tiffany, Bailey and baby Christopher in the hospital when he was a couple of days old, and then we went out to their house a week later to see them again. The second visit, we actually got to see him with his eyes open. That boy can seriously sleep!

Christopher and his mommy.
Nathan and I just celebrated our eight-year anniversary on August 10th. We took a much-needed mini-vacation to San Antonio for two nights at the end of the month, and we had such a good time! It was nice to be alone together, to be able to have a conversation without being constantly interrupted, and do things we wanted to do without worrying whether the kids would be entertained. What did we talk about? The kids. I know, I know...once you have children, life as you know it comes to a screeching halt. Just accept it, right? :)
We wandered around, finding random things to do, and came upon some pretty cool things. Example: a massive dinosaur exhibit that's made its home in the Rivercenter Mall. Dinosaur Quest: biggest dino exhibit around, with 19 full skeletons, a T-Rex theater, and more informational videos about each dino than I've ever seen.
Pretty cool, although a little pricey. We got in at half price, but it was still $6 per person. While we were inside, a man came up to us and volunteered to answer any questions we had. Nathan started talking to him, assuming he was just an employee, and it turned out that he was a paleontologist! Way cool. He gave us a ton of interesting information.
We also went and checked out the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum and the adjoining wax museum. I went to the Ripley's in Dallas (before it burned down), and it knew it was pretty neat, but I don't think Nathan had ever been. There were some seriously weird things in there!
World's largest tire.
World's tallest man.
Yep. I knew I was short.
Ever seen a chastity belt? Now you have!
My reaction:
"Where does that part goooooo...ooooh! I see."
This was supposed to stop women from "talking idly."
NO, they were not available at the gift shop. Nathan asked. :)
This falls under the "too much time on your hands" category.
It's made from dryer lint.
Clearly, I missed my artistic calling.
Aaaaand...made from 66 pieces of toasted bread.
Yeah, I know.
Anyway, you get the idea. We saw a ton of strange stuff, and it was really interesting. We even learned how to make a shrunken head (in detail), so you should probably be really nice to us from now on, lest you become a fashion accessory.
Then, on to Louis Tussaud's! Nathan took a special photo for all the Twilight fans out there (suppressing gag):
Pinch, pinch.
No offense, Team Edward. We really do love you guys.
Maybe. Or not.
Batman!
Indy!
Cue the theme music!
There were lots more, but if I included all the pictures, this would be really, really long. And you would have all died of boredom by now. Get in the car and go see it yourself. :)
We had nice meals at some great places, watched a couple of good movies, were pampered in one of our favorite hotels, did a little shopping, and just enjoyed being together. It was a super fantastic getaway!
My favorite guy. :)
He's been putting up with me for eight years, and he's still smiling. Give the man an award!
