Where does the time go? Seriously?
I totally missed posting about Thanksgiving in a timely manner, and since I did not take one single picture during the entire holiday weekend, I'll give a brief overview. (Insert sigh of relief here.)
On Thanksgiving Day, we went to the Alexanders' to see Nathan's family. Great family time and excellent food made the day really special. My kids actually behaved fairly well (until the end, when it became obvious to everyone that they did not take a nap), so I was pleasantly surprised. Did I mention that the food was awesome?
We also managed to snap some family pictures for the Alexanders' Christmas cards. This one was the winner, and Joseph just e-mailed it to us yesterday. I like it!
Back row (L to R): Peter, Beth, Nathan, ME, Hannah, and Joseph
Front row (L to R): Bailey, Tim, Christopher, Tiffany, John, Ethan, Zoe, Sharon, Nicholas, Marissa, and Ian
Yes. There are 17 of us (for now). Eat it up, people.
The following Saturday, we went to my parents' house to eat some more. Again, yummy food and good family time. No family picture, though. We'll take one at Christmas, most likely.

Enough turkey talk for now. I'm much more excited about our recent appliance purchase. About three weeks ago, we bought a new washer and dryer!! If you guys have heard any of the horror stories about my old washer (not just the one tale I posted a little while back), then you'll understand my joy.
They're so pretty! The wonderful thing is: our clothes are actually getting clean and dry these days! Amazing, I know. My laundry room is way too small to allow for pictures of the real things, so you'll have to settle for these:

So beautiful.
Since I'm on the subject of appliances, I would like to announce that my oven and I have officially been together for one year this month. Our relationship was a little rocky at first, but we've worked on our issues, sorted out our differences, and I think I may have a little crush now. :)

Last thing, and you're totally going to laugh. I'm starting to get nervous about naming this child-to-be. Why? Well, it's my turn again (Nathan named Ethan, I named Nicholas, Nathan named Zoe...). The deal is, we both agreed completely on all the names for our kiddos, but whoever got the final say alternated for each birth. I seriously have no clue what I'm going to name this munchkin, boy or girl. Good thing I have lots of time to think about it.
Hope you're all having a great week!

I can think of lots of great names. ;) But, I can relate to settling on one. We actually used a large dry erase board this last time around. I wrote out all the names I could think of and Jerry added several more. Then, we walked by it daily (it was in the hall leading out of our bedroom) and if there was one we just couldn't stand to even consider using, we crossed it off. As time went by, it was narrowed down to a few, then we shared those with relatives and only one name got a BIG show of support from one relative (My Aunt Sara...go figure, eh) and the others everyone liked equally, so that's how Sarah Elizabeth came to be. I'm sure you will have an equally lovely story to share in due time. :)
ReplyDeleteI have to come up with 2 names. It was hard enough to get me and Brad together when we were naming Travis. If we have a girl, I already have the named picked out, as it was approved on the last go round. But if we wind up with 2 girls, I don't know what I will do. I have a couple of boy names that I like, but I doubt Brad will approve them. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteStacy, go to the babynames.com website. You can actually make a list of names you love, and add middle names and your last name with each one to see how they look written down. I'm making a list...I don't know how else to do it. Nathan will just have to help me narrow it down, I guess.
ReplyDeleteAbigail, the name Sarah is beautiful, and is to be reserved for goddesses. :)
I actually used babynames.com with Travis, and have been using it again. Here is the link to my name list if you want to vote. I am trying to narrow it down to two girl names, and two boy names, so that we have all the sex combinations covered.
