The kids weren't horrible, although they couldn't understand the concept of getting one book at a time and sitting down with it. They're still really young, and I'm sure it will get better as they get older. I read to them for a little while, but Nicholas can't sit still for more than ten seconds without spazzing out, so we walked around a lot. I found a few books that the boys were really excited about, and managed to sneak a quick look around the grown-up sections before I completely lost this kids' attention. We checked out five books, piled back into "Mommy's bus," (named by Ethan) and went to Sonic for slushes. :)
I found a cookbook that I'm actually really excited about. It's 8 Degrees of Ingredients by Melisa Prie, and all the recipes inside (over 250!) are completely free of the eight most common allergens: wheat, egg, soy, milk, fish, peanuts, shellfish and tree nuts. My kids don't have issues with food allergies, other than Zoe's allergy to milk, so I can adapt most of the recipes to fit our entire family without having to buy weird ingredients, like xanthan gum and amaranth flour. Strange, and probably pretty pricey once you add up all the different things mentioned in the book. We'll see if it turns out to be a good find.

They have story time on Wednesday mornings at 10 or 10:30 (can't remember which) that the kids might enjoy. There are usually quite a few people there, and it's busier during the summer. The lady that does the stories does a really good job. They tend to limit it to a reasonable amount of time for kids to sit through. You should check it out.
ReplyDeleteI heard about that. Nathan took them one day while they were waiting for me to finish a doctor's appointment. He said it was a little too long for all three to sit through, but I'm definitely willing to try! The worst thing that could happen would be that we'd have to leave. I also read about Gunner, the trained dog they bring in once or twice a month to listen to kids read. I think the kids would love to see him! You should go pick up a summer activities schedule. They have a lot of stuff going on for all ages.
ReplyDeleteWe were at the library today (finally) getting our summer reading packets...Lilly has had a rough few days and had a meltdown IN the library...we left immediately. That was a first. . . Glad your little ones did so well! YAY!
